Dr Kat Lindley is a board-certified family physician in Brock Texas. Her passion has always been helping people. As a young adult, who fled a war-torn country (former Yugoslavia) she lived in many different countries, including Italy and UK. Eventually her travels led her to United States and the medical school in Florida. She became a family physician because she loved the idea of taking care of the whole family, from the young ones to the older ones and seeing the family grow. Later in her career, she became interested in helping find solutions in improving the overall healthcare system as she has seen with her own eyes that some things were broken, and many patients were left wondering how to navigate the murky waters of the system. Her favorite part of that work led her to creating many networks especially within veteran community. Her work helped her in becoming involved in legislative issues in healthcare and veteran health. While being a physician is her call, being a mom of 5 is her life.
An Ounce of Prevention is Worth a Pound of Cure
By Dr Kat Lindley, D.O. FACOFP
It has been the longest ‘15 days to flatten the curve’. Nearly two years have passed, yet we still live with the threat of SARS-CoV-2 and more lockdowns over our heads. Fortunately, we have learned that there are things we can do at home to keep our immune systems optimized and ready to fight the invisible pathogen. Two of the most common risk factors in developing COVID-19 illness are low levels of vitamin D3 and obesity. Therefore, we should address those issues before we become ill. Below I have listed three protocols using nutraceuticals that can be bought at the store and used at home.
The first protocol lists the names and dosages of vitamins and supplements used in the prevention of COVID-19. The second shows how the same nutraceuticals can be used during the treatment of acute illness. The third protocol may be used in those individuals who have been adversely affected by the COVID-19 vaccine.
As we navigate these uncertain times, we need to remember that we humans are resilient and that our greatest strength is found in the face of adversity. Working together in our own communities is how we can beat this. As we face more controversy with vaccine mandates and passports, we need to take care of ourselves and each other in body, mind and spirit. Our bodies are amazing creations. When under attack and primed, they naturally know what to do. The result is a strong, natural immune system that will recognize and respond to future threats.
Below is the list of nutraceuticals to use. Before you start any regimen, please contact your physician or read about the side effects and risks of the supplements recommended. Be brave, stay the course, HOLD THE LINE.

Some final observations…
Ketogenic diets have shown a strong anti-inflammatory effect and some data suggest that they may be useful for reducing viral replication and may help with recovery. Vitamin D3 is extremely important in the prevention and treatment of Covid-19. The optimal level in the blood is 50 ng/ml. I highly recommend getting your levels checked. Exercise is essential for our health. If you develop COVID-19, I recommend that you exercise as tolerated. This can be just moving around a little or going for a walk in the sun, then getting some rest. Sleep when you’re tired and allow your body to recover. I always tell my patients, “Listen to your body, it knows the way.”
I will leave you with these final words, ” The secret to happiness is freedom. The secret to freedom is courage.” There comes a time in our lives when we are called to do something bigger than ourselves. How we respond to this call is what distinguishes us from the crowd.
